There is a considerable amount of strategy that goes into placing Platinum Arena. The top clans and players&nbsp;are testing new builds each week with an array of champions all with the goal of having someone in their clan get first place. Some more casual End-Game players may only seek to get placement.&nbsp;In this article we will discuss strategies used by the top players as well as current issues with End-Game PVP content.

The following strategies come from members of the Sacred Panda Cluster. Sacred Panda is currently the #1 Ranked clan in Raid: Shadow Legends. As a cluster they have a considerable amount of Platinum Arena first place finishes and are very knowledgeable overall. Below are their&nbsp;suggestions for&nbsp;the best ways any player should&nbsp;approach Platinum Arena.&nbsp;

BUILD DEFENSE

Every player should first build a defense and then gauge the strength of that defense. It is easier to gauge the strength of the defense if you are in plat because of the limited amount of spots. Your clanmates will easily be able to find you and attack the defense as many times as possible to see how it performs against certain offenses. Additionally, other top players&nbsp;may attack it giving you some indication as to the offenses they are testing. According to members from Sacred Panda, they have individual players fighting 800+ fights weekly to determine the defenses they will use during reset.&nbsp;

DETERMINE PLAY STYLE &amp; BUILD OFFENSE

Individual players will have different play styles depending on the strength of their defense. This is also contingent on the&nbsp;consistency of their offense. Your play style may be limited based on your ability to beat teams fast and the types of teams your account can successfully win against. Most of the top players will be able to attack any type of defense and have multiple offensive options that they have tested. Testing your offense and defense are vital to successfully placing in Platinum Arena.&nbsp;

Aggressive play style is for players with really strong offenses who can get fights in quickly with the goal of gaining a lot of ranking points. It is also used to reduce the points of other players so that someone in their individual clan can climb higher in the ranking. An aggressive player might attack some accounts up to ten times. This is a risky play style because you can also lose battles due to the&nbsp;amount of RNG a given defense brings.&nbsp;

Team play style is essential for the top clans. They coordinate different strategies week to week to ensure that someone from their clan is in first place during arena reset. Players generally do not attack members from their own clan as it is counterproductive to the overall goal of having someone from their clan place first.&nbsp;

Pacing play style is for someone who has an account that might not be able to survive well in the top 100. Once in the top 100 your account will be on the pages of players that will be able to defeat you without much effort. You could get attacked&nbsp;10 times really quickly and all of the losses will come in at the same time pushing you out of Platinum Arena.&nbsp;If your account is not the strongest it is important to pace your push so that you aren't on the radar of the top players unless you have an offense that can make up the amount of points lost. Making up points is very difficult though for inexperienced players. Depending on how much time is left before reset, it may be impossible for some players to make up 60+ points to allow them to place.&nbsp;

Safe and consistent play style is for players with really strong defenses. Players with this play style will also have an offense that has around a 100% win rate. They are able to effectively contribute to the teams play style because they can easily drop the rank of opponents. It is important to have clan members&nbsp;who are able to use any of the given play styles week to week.&nbsp;

The game's content overall is well-designed, but the PvP aspect has faced several challenges and issues. Despite updates and changes, End Game PvP in Raid: Shadow Legends remains a polarizing topic among players. This is due to the ever growing mechanics of the game, and the ever shifting meta. Additionally, the updates and changes have not catered to those not competing in End-Game content. Some feel that the every update makes certain players stronger due to their ability to buy everything that they need to be more successful. There is a desire amongst end game players to make PVP more exciting and more accessible. They hope that by sharing the strategies they use they can encourage more players to try and fight in&nbsp;Platinum Arena.&nbsp;

Strategy aside, one of the most significant issues with PvP in Raid: Shadow Legends is the imbalance between players who have invested in the game and those who haven't. As stated by one player, "People are just outmatched as far as the wallet is concerned." Players who have spent a significant amount of money on the game have access to more powerful champions, artifacts, and blessings.&nbsp;

The introduction of the<a href="https://aftershockunited.gg/raid/champions/marichka-the-unbreakable"> Marichka</a> and <a href="https://aftershockunited.gg/raid/champions/taras-the-fierce">Taras</a> duo&nbsp;further aggravated this problem. The duo&nbsp;created a significant shift in the meta, and players who pulled the duo were suddenly propelled to the top 100, whereas they couldn't even finish in Platinum Arena during reset before. These two champions alone are&nbsp;so strong that players who don't have it are&nbsp;seen as easy pickings.

&nbsp;

<a href="https://aftershockunited.gg/raid/blessing">Blessings</a> and Awakenings are another issue. Blessings have become so broken that they've nerfed one-third of the champions and the only consistent way to beat Marichka and Taras. The only way to deal with them is by debuffing them.&nbsp;High-end accounts that have the Polymorph blessing&nbsp;can't be debuffed due to the immense amount of RNG. It has created a situation where every endgame player has five or six-star blessings on their champions, and running a debuff strategy is impossible. The only option left is to play aggressively, which results in losses and boosting.

In addition to the above, PvP in Raid: Shadow Legends suffers from imbalances created by empowerment and awakening.&nbsp;Some players have access to ridiculous gear that has been ascended, while others don't.&nbsp;Awakening a champion allows them to have stat bonuses that make them almost impossible to defeat with certain accounts. The upcoming accessory ascension dungeon will likely&nbsp;create additional imbalances.

Reset time is one of the largest factors that determine whether a player will push Platinum Arena during reset. After&nbsp;Spring daylight saving time, Platinum Arena reset is 4am EST. In the Fall it&nbsp;goes back to 3am EST. This makes it difficult for players to compete as they don't want to wake up during that time. Many people have other things they need to do on Monday mornings and pushing Platinum Arena reset just doesn't seem worth the lost sleep.&nbsp;

Many players have not tried to push Platinum Arena during the week and are likely unaware of what their account can accomplish. The team compositions, blessings, and awakenings can be very discouraging.&nbsp;On the other end of the spectrum are players who refuse to push because they don't think it is worth it if they won't get first place. Free of his lord’s whims, Kalvalax finally had people to call his own. Kalvalax had made clear enemies of the Elves of Durham Forest by this point, and his fellow barons in Kaerok envied him for his rapid rise to power. Even so, Kalvalax ruled his people with an iron fist and governed his province for many seasons. While his people merely survived, Kalvalax himself prospered. One day, a virulent plague swept through Kalvalax’s barony. Houses and small holdings, along with their infected dwellers, were burned to the ground. But the burning failed to stop the spread of disease and seeing no other way to survive, Kalvalax walled himself within his castle, barring the gates against the plague’s grasp. He hoped that while his barony might collapse, his court at least would live to take any survivors through the crisis. In the barony’s darkest hour, a stranger, shrouded in robes of black, arrived at Kalvalax's castle. Being an old man, he was unafraid of the plague, and asked at the gate to speak with Kalvalax, promising he had something the baron would wish to know. The stranger made his offer: he could cure this lethal plague, and Kalvalax’s barony would be saved. Kalvalax cared greatly for his land – without it, he would be nothing, another landless knight. Intrigued and seeing the afflictions of her flesh, he commanded a fresh body be brought, and was able to extract and transfer Aeshma's soul into it. Aeshma awoke and found herself in a new body, seemingly free of the disease that had beset her. The fear she had felt toward the Knights Revenant faded as she was filled with joy and relief at having been cured. The Soul Shepherd asked Aeshma to arise, and unlock the door to his chamber. As she acquiesced, the key appeared at her fingertips. It was clear Aeshma could be valuable to the cult. There seemed to be no reason for the inner circle to trust her however, until it became clear that her infection had transcended the natural and mundane and followed her soul to a new body. No matter how many times Aeshma changed her body, or bound it up with scraps of enchanted healing cloth, she could never stop the disease from withering her muscles, claiming her sight, and reducing her to a paralyzed wreck. Her only hope was to change body again and again to outrun the infection. That was only possible as long as the Soul Shepherds supplied fresh bodies, and were willing to transfer her. Aeshma was indebted to the Cult of K'Leth, bound to its service for as long as she wishes to outlast her curse. She protects Narbuk's depths and guides the Knights Revenant through its dank, crumbling crypts, fulfilling the role of Mistress of the Keys, a warden and guardian for whom no door remains barred for long. She is a bitter and frustrated soul, ever irritated and terrified by her affliction. One of her very few solaces is that she can pass on her illness with but a touch of her weeping skin. Ever since she took up a scythe she found in the Narbuk tunnels as a weapon and badge of office, she has brushed her skin over its blade before ever using it. That was not something that all Shadowkin were seeking, however. From the beginning of her life, Riho Bonespear was taught how to destroy. Sired by a Mikage Demonspawn general, and thereafter raised in its inner circle, she was one of their most potent tools in the violent oppression of the Yakai people. Bent, beaten, and broken into a creature of pure contempt and malice, her early life was spent being honed into an agent of chaos. Her ferocity and skill with a spear, coupled with her deft powers of manipulation and persuasion, made her an unforgiving adversary. Forever kept in the darkness and shadows, and specializing in destroying communities from within, Riho was tasked with infiltrating the nascent rebellion and ensuring its collapse no matter the cost. She knew the rebels would suspect her, given her Demonic visage, and so when she found a resistance cell to infiltrate, she lied to them, spinning a tale of hate and anguish to convince them she wished the Mikage to fall. Though that rage is primarily directed toward the rebellion, she shows no mercy to any Demonspawn or Mikage, as in her view it was their weakness that led to their defeat. But as she wanders and continues to kill with abandon, questions about her place in the world have fermented in her imposingly horned head. Why had she supported the Mikage? While he moves with grace, it is not the grace of an Elf but something insectoid and alien. His voice lacks the Elvish mellifluousness, and is instead a gurgling croak. Beneath his curious armor, his body is hardened like an insect’s carapace, and his gaze is unsettling, even to the most hardened Ranger. In his hands, he carries a bow resembling the husk of an insect, twisted into the shape of a weapon. He first appeared not long after the Dark Elves decided to make Durham Forest their home. The Elves had begun to encroach upon the forest’s heart and Ruel emerged to greet one party with a message from the things that lurked there: cease, or be punished. The Elves laughed; they were not intimidated by this gangly stranger, with his curious way of speaking. They had seen worse things, they claimed. The forest was theirs, they declared. Whatever its original inhabitants thought of that was immaterial. Ruel swiftly punished those Elves for their temerity. Some fell to the arrows he fired from his strange, insect-shaped bow, while others perished to the claws and mandibles of the horrid insects that flowed from the forest at Ruel’s gesture. Nor were these the last Dark Elves to meet such a fate. Ruel’s attacks continued until the Dark Elves retreated from the heart of the forest, abandoning their settlements there. These places were quickly retaken by the forest, swallowed up by weeds, vines, and moss, or else shrouded in vast swathes of spiderweb. If they exist now, it is only as spider-haunted ruins. After that, Ruel vanished. And with every expedition, Ruel was there waiting for them. This state of events has continued to the present day. The forest itself seems to protect him, and he is always accompanied by swarms of great insects. This constant back and forth has led to much debate among the Dark Elves on the origins of their foe. Some maintain that Ruel was once a child of their race, stolen away by the things living in the deep forest, the ancient creatures ensnaring the boy in a fell cocoon and tending him after the fashion of their own hideous offspring. What emerged was something that was neither completely insect nor Elf, but a horrific amalgamation of the two. Others claim that Ruel was never an Elf at all. That he was and is nothing more than an insect, twisted into a somewhat familiar shape, in order to better communicate the wishes of his dread masters. Regardless, Ruel’s purpose is clear to even the dimmest mind. He is an emissary and mouthpiece for the horrors lurking in the deep forest; a tool shaped and designed by the insects.
